ARM Mali-400 MP1

The ARM Mali series of GPU’s come in a number of versions. These range from single core to 4 core GPU processors. The ARM Mali-400 MP is an OpenGL ES 2.0 able GPU and was released in 2008. The GPU is in the bottom range of the Mali 4 series of processors. The chip is intended to be used in tablets and smartphones.

The chip has independent CPU as well as GPU power management which in its turn will maximize the battery life on your phone and also minimize heat dissipation which can become an issue when you play games for a long period of time.
The ARM Mali-400 MP1 comes with  1-4 / 1 Pixel- / Vertexshader. You can compare this with the ARM Mali-400 MP4 (4/1 cores) and ARM Mali-400 MP2 (2/1 cores). You will note that this GPU runs at 460 MHz in the Samsung Galaxy V Plus as listed on this website.
The ARM Mali-400 MP1 and the ARM Mali-400 MP4 are two variants of the Mali-400 series, each with distinct characteristics. Firstly, the MP1 features a single processing core, whereas the MP4 is equipped with four cores. Consequently, the MP4 outperforms the MP1 in terms of graphics processing capabilities. Moreover, both GPUs are based on ARM’s Utgard architecture, providing a certain level of similarity in their overall design.
However, the MP4 offers better performance and power efficiency due to its multi-core configuration. In contrast, the MP1 is more suitable for simpler graphical tasks and less demanding applications. Ultimately, the choice between the two depends on the specific requirements of the target device.
